Aardvarks Like To Dance! :D

What? Have you never seen an aardvark dance before?....You haven't......oh. Well....it's okay...I haven't either. :( I've never seen one in person at all.....but i have seen this aardvark! :D

Arthur!!! I loved this show when I was younger!!! :D Because of this show, I learned how to spell the word "aardvark". :D Ah, childhood shows. There were so many great things that came on during my childhood. Sometimes I wish that I could just return to the glorious days of my childhood just so I could relive the amazingness of television for me. Since I honestly have nothing better to talk about and just feel like blogging, let's review some shows of my past, shall we?

Okay, so I don't really like clowns, but I LOVED The Big Comfy Couch. A ginormous couch that pretty much had anything you could think of in it, and it didn't take very long to clean up afterwards.....actually, as I have gotten older, I feel cheated from this show. The "Ten Second Tidy" they do at the end of every show......a lot of the time, it lasts longer than ten seconds. o_O Yeah. But hey, this is the only thing in it with clowns that I actually can appreciate. PBS had some pretty awesome shows, like Zoom....

I would say that I learned a whole lot from this show...but to be honest, whatever I might've learned, it apparently didn't stick, because the only memory I really have of this show is the hand game, "Double, double, this, this..." Yeah, that's pretty sad. But it did have some educational qualities, and so did Bill Nye.

I don't care what other people think, this show was AWESOME. If it still came on TV, I would probably be tempted to watch it again. I even loved it as a middle schooler in my science class whenever we would randomly watch an episode pertaining to what we were learning about. A great mixture of science and comedy, this is a highlight of my childhood.

If I could ever find this on DVD, I would totally raise my kids partly on this show...not the newer stuff but the older episodes for sure. I think every kid should grow up watching at least a little bit of Sesame Street. I know that PBS probably has more awesome television programs that I used to watch, but I can't remember any more at the moment, so I guess they didn't make that big of an impact on me. Let's move onto....Nick Jr.!

Show of hands....does anyone remember these shows?.....Anyone....anyone....anyone.......*sigh* I didn't think so. Sadly, most people don't. The first one is Allegra's Window. Probably my favorite TV show that ever came on on Nick Jr. It was real people and puppets, and they were all musical. And at the end of the episode, Allegra would sit on her windowsill and talk about what she learned. It was most definitely one of my favorite shows ever. I would love to be able to find this on DVD somewhere......

A lot of people don't remember Gullah Gullah Island either. Rather unfortunate, if I might say so. A Jamaican family and a Poliwog (whatever that really is) having fun and singing songs. Having a good time and learning lessons along the way. "Let's all go to Gullah Gullah Island." I don't see how Nick Jr. watchers could not remember this show. They don't remember this or Allegra's Window, but most of them sure do remember this one.....

Yes, Little Bear. Who doesn't remember this show? Little Bear and his friends Duck, Owl, Hen, Cat, and Emily, along with other random friends that I can't remember right now. :P This show was cute, but I had to question one thing.....why does Little Bear's parents where clothing, but he doesn't? Hmmm. Something to ponder on, yes?

Okay, so I'm not a hugh Disney Channel fan...in fact, I loathe that television station with a passion, but two things did come of it that I actually did enjoy, and that was Rolie Polie Olie and PB&J Otter. These two shows were absolutely adorable, and since my siblings were even younger than I, it was cute to see how much enjoyable these shows were for them. To be honest though, I can't recall anything else this good coming out of Disney Channel. :P

These two shows were also big parts of my childhood. Now granted, Angelica was a total spoiled brat, and the whole pun with naming the chimp Darwin was kinda ridiculous, but these two things are completely overshadowed by the pure epicness of these shows. Rugrats was just so cute. My favorite was Chuckie. I love him to pieces. I think I mainly liked him over the others at first because of the glasses, but that's beside the point now. The Wild Thornberrys is awesome already, but throw in the fact that Nigel Thornberry is voiced by Tim Curry and you have one show that is to die for. Hmm......I think this is about it for the younger kid type stuff......now onto a few shows that I liked as a kid, but I love them even more now that I'm older.

These two relate, so I'll talk about them together. All That. Oh my goodness. This show was hysterical. Dan Schneider is probably one of the best TV show writers I've ever known. He has written so many great TV shows for Nickelodeon. If I could find some scripts for some of the skits in All That, I would want to perform them for, like, a talent show or something. Some kind of performance. And, out of All That, came another fantastic show...Kenan and Kel. My goodness, that show was hysterical!!!! "Who loves orange soda? Kel loves orange soda! Is it true? I do, I do, I do-oooo!!!" Good times, good times.

This, right here, was the best thing that Cartoon Network ever had going for it. By far. (Other than Toonami, of course, but they are like apples and oranges [quoted from Katherine B.]) This great marriage of comedy and violence is what every child should be raised on from the time that they are born. Once you get your child home from the hospital, you should sit down and watch this with your baby. They will be thankful that you did when they are older. It will be a sad day when children do not know the name Bugs Bunny. It is imperative that we educate our children properly in the ways of good cartoons, and this is the grandfather of greatness is my opinion. :D

The Muppet Show is another show that is definitely "show your kids from birth" worthy in my opinion. When they are younger, they will love the puppetry and random funniness that kids love, and when they are older, they will be more able to understand the adult humor and appreciate the sheer amazingness of this show. I believe that every kid in the world should be able to go around and sing the song "Muh Nah Muh Nah" and know the show that it is from. They should be able to quote random catch phrases from this show (as well as the movies). Children of the future should not have to go without the powerful influence of this show.

And last, but certainly not least, the pure brilliance of Steven Spielberg is all contained in this one show: Animaniacs. Oh sure, when you are young, it is just a lot of funny random jokes, but as you get older, you can catch the adult humor (especially the innuendos) of this show. The cuteness of Dot, the craziness of Wakko, and the sarcasticness of Yakko are what really make the show, but throw in all of the other characters (i.e. Pinky and the Brain, Mindy and Buttons, Rita and Runt, The Goodfeathers, etc.) make this show one to remember always. You should start having your kids watch this show even before birth. Just sit down and watch it before they are born, and keep it up afterwards. They will be most grateful for the love and compassion that you show to them by letting them in on this most excellent show.

And what does all this have to do with college? Absolutely nothing. Wow. I totally went on a huge rant and didn't even mean to at the beginning. I blame my RA, Emily. She is the one who gave me the title for my blog in the first place, and everything else just came out of it. :P Well, I hope that maybe this was entertaining for you readers. Maybe next time I'll actually talk about something that has to do with college. Thanks for taking the time to read my ridiculous writings.
