Ah, Sundays....and School Work...they just don't go together

Okay, so I just finished my homework for Freshman English. Now that I have no more homework to work on for today...update time!! ^_^ Well, let's see. Oh! I had an amazing night last night! It was Guy's Open Dorm (Oh, for those of you who don't know what that is, let me explain real fast. On Friday nights from 7:30-11:00, the guys are allowed in pretty much any part of the girl's dorms, as long as the bedroom doors are open. On Saturday nights, the guy's dorm is open from 7:30-11:00 for the girls to visit and hang out. I think it's a pretty cool idea myself). So, a big group of us played......Apples to Apples! :D That was fun. Then four of my new friends and I made pasta and hung out. I was tons of fun. Then 2 of those friends, one other new friend, and I hung out outside in the grass from 11 til 1:50, because curfew on Fridays and Saturdays is 2 a.m. (The rest of the week, curfew is 12:30.) We had so much fun! I can tell that Friday and Saturday nights are going to be awesome (so I'll make sure to do my homework during the day). So, this morning, my friend Casey and I went to Garrison Baptist Church. A church van came and picked us up. We went cause they left us cookies at our dorm rooms and left info about the church, and they also fed us breakfast (of course, cause they're Baptist). They were all so friendly and the sermon was pretty good too. We'll probably just go there since it's the easiet place to get to, plus they are just really nice people. Reminds me of home. :) I've realized that if nothing else got me through this first year, my new friends would definitely be the one thing. I love all my wonderful new friends, and I want everyone to meet them!! ^_^

My First Day of Classes

So, today I had my first classes: Music Theory, Freshman English, and Western Civ 1. Overall, I think I'll do fine. I just have to get past the scariness of so much homework and essays (well, except in Music Theory). Also, we had our first Bryan Chorale rehearsal today, in which I am in...the Soprano section. Odd, but I'll get over it. The service tonight was absolutely outstanding. We are having a Spiritual Life Conference, and the music and speaker are all outstanding. Well, afterwards, we had our Freshman Comissioning, which isn't what most people would think it would be. The Seniors washed our feet and then prayed with us. I almost cried. Afterwards, one of the girls that prayed over me came up to me. She was also in the Bryan Chorale, and I had actually met her. Here's the cool thing: She is ALSO a Vocal Music Education major!! She is also doing what I'm seriously considering doing and is minoring in Bible. I found out from her that with the amount of required Bible classes that I automatically have to take, I would only need one more credit to minor in Bible! So I'm going to be looking into that. It's nights like tonight that I am so thankful to be here, but it was a little hard cause it was the first Wednesday night away from the youth group since I came here. :( I can feel that God is moving here and has wonderful things in store for me. Well, it's getting late, and I have an 8:30 class in the morning, so I'm gonna end it here. Let's see what the next few days hold for me. :)

My first day!

So, today was my first day at the college, and let me tell you, it has been some day! My roommate Andrea is sooo nice, and the other girls on our hall are really nice as well. :) Everyone here is just so friendly. I was even warmly welcomed at a table where I just been introduced moments before during dinner. So many people have said that they "approve of me", which is really funny. My room looks awesome, and I've already met so many people who have the same interests as I do. The nervous butterflies that I've had all week are gone now (thank goodness). My orientation group is so awesome as well. The atmosphere just feels like a family. Of course, it will be hard for even this to replace my youth group family back home, but I know it will come to feel just like another side of my already wonderful family. Well, I think that's all for now. Tomorrow, first full day here, and Wednesday, first day of classes....exciting. ^_^
