Hey guys!! So, this past weekend and the past few days on top of it have been an emotional roller coaster for me. And here is why...
So, I was going to ask my friend Sean to the Sadie Hawkins Christmas Banquet, but found out that someone else asked him already this past Friday. I was just going to give up, but he ended up finding out that I was going to ask him (partially from me, partially from my "big brother" Tim). So, he said he would think about it and decide what to do. Well, time went on and I didn't get any kind of answer from him. So since Friday night, I've been an emotional wreck. Not because I was afraid of being turned down, but more of the fact that I felt so bad that he was having to make any kind of decision at all. (So I officially hate Sadie Hawkins now, just so you all know.)
Well, I finally got an answer from him last night. He will not be going with me to Sadie Hawkins Banquet, but....well, let's just say how this was told to me was way different than what I expected. (Story Time!!!)
So, I'm sitting outside, hanging out with Josh, when Yolonda and Matt show up. Yolonda asks me if I could sing "Be Prepared" from The Lion King for Matt. Confused, I sang part of it. Then Yolonda asked me if I would like to play a game. Warily, I said yes, and Matt handed me a note. It said...
Prepared as you are for an invasion severe,
Go to the animal we all long to cheer.
A lion waits near where hyenas prey,
A cub sandwich they want in a cafe.
I couldn't believe what was happening, but I played along, and we ended up right outside of the cafeteria where Elisa was waiting for me. For her, I had to sing a song from Hercules, so I ended up singing part of "I Won't Say I'm In Love" for her. (Side note, for my banquet ask, I had actually written a parody of that song to sing for Sean to ask him to banquet, but that never happened. :P) Anyways, after I sang it, I got my next clue.
Thy Muse awaits by a pool nearby,
Find her my dear, and a clue for the sly.
She will prepare you for the task ahead,
So continue your journey, free of all dread.
I ended up at the pool, where two muses awaited me behind an umbrella. They were Lauren and Katherine. For them, I had to sing the lullaby portion of "Deliver Us" from The Prince of Egypt. The promptly escorted me to my next destination, but not before I got my next clue as to where to go from there.
Your prayer of deliverance sung time and again,
Looks to a call, God's own son to send.
Find the Christ sheltered near books,
And like Moses himself, with shepherd's crook.
This took me to the second floor of the library, where my "big sister" Desirae was waiting for me. For her, I had to act like a pirate, and I didn't have to do a whole lot, because I knew her weakness: One Piece (an anime about pirates). All I said was that I was sailing the seven seas in search of One Piece and and I got my next and final clue.
Your journey is nearing it long-longed for end;
You've one path to take yet, one final bend.
Find a pirate in the heart of his turf,
An old thieves' lounge, when he's not on the surf.
This took me to my last destination, Long Lounge. (Long is the guy's dorm, girls can go into the kitchen and lounge area.) When I walked in, Sean popped out from behind the coke machine with a piece of paper, singing "I've got a piece of paper!" like Captain Jack Sparrow (an imitation that he does rather well :D). He turned it over and on it was written, "Banquet in Spring?"
So, needless to say, I said yes. At the end of the day, all the stress that I went through the past few days was totally worth being asked by Sean to the Spring Banquet. (Plus, to be honest, I think that girls should just leave the asking to the guys anyway.) So now, I might not have a date still for the Christmas Banquet, but I already have a totally amazing guy taking me to Spring Banquet. ^_^
Hope you all enjoyed my little story. Maybe the next time I write, I'll actually have a date to the Christmas Banquet. Lolz. ^_^
Love you all and God bless!!

Hey Katie,
ReplyDeleteI just figured I'd chime in and say that I don't believe "girls should just leave the asking to the guys." Matter of fact, without a divine, wondrous, and unbelievably powerful act from God or a girl asking me, which might be considered an act of God by some, I will single and my tombstone will be single.
Well, that's fine for some people. :) I'm just saying that personally, I would much prefer to be asked to something by a guy that me ask him. It just doesn't feel right to me. I guess I just really like a more old fashioned way of doing things is all. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and for any readers out there, I do have a date to Christmas Banquet now. :D
ReplyDeleteIt was a long process to decide how this would play out I might add! D:< Next time listen to me when I grab your shoulder and tell you that I have your best interests at heart and that you should wait. Good things come to those who wait! I told you and lookie lookie.
